Sunday School
Vision
Proverbs 22:6 says “Train the child in the manner to grow
so that he will not depart from it when he becomes old”.
The significance of this verse was recognized by the leaders of Calvary Baptist
Church and started Sunday school ministry.
Frankly speaking, Sunday school ministry preceeded the Church Ministry.
In the year 1913, a School for girls was established by Missionary Miss Blackdar
in a rented house. In this same place
every Sunday, Sunday school was conducted and children were taught Word of God and
songs. Those children who attend the
Sunday school of Calvary Baptist Church were placed in great responsible jobs in
todays modern world. By the year 1974,
around 100 children attended Sunday school.
Currently 400 children are attending Calvary Sunday school.
Around 20 teachers were trained to impart Godly knowledge to these kids in
Sunday school.
The first Sunday school Superintendent was Mrs. G. Dayamni,
every Sunday, Sunday school commences from morning 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. from the very
beginning money from Church income was bring for the development of Sunday school
teachers were given opportunities to update their skills and talents to train kids. On Christmas eve, many competitions
were conducted to the Sunday school children to encouratge them.
Calvary Baptist Church, Sunday school children had won any prizes in various
competitions around the city. On every
Palm Sunday, a special procession is done by Sunday school children on the streets
of Vizag city distribyting Gospel tracts.
The Sunday school ministry is not only limited to Christians rather it is extended
even to non-Christian children.
